Sattu Paratha Recipe
Sattu paratha is a traditional stuffed Indian flatbread made by filling wheat dough with a spiced mixture of roasted chana sattu.
It is particularly popular in Bihar and neighbouring regions.
Ingredients
For the Dough
Whole wheat flour
Water
Salt
For the Filling
Chana sattu
Finely chopped onion
Green chilli
Coriander
Lemon juice
Ajwain
Roasted cumin powder
Salt
A little water
How to Make Sattu Paratha
1. Prepare the Dough
Mix wheat flour with water and knead into a soft dough. Allow it to rest for around 15–20 minutes.
2. Prepare the Filling
Mix sattu with onion, chilli, coriander, lemon juice and spices.
Add a little water if necessary. The filling should hold together without becoming wet.
3. Stuff the Paratha
Take a portion of dough and flatten it. Place the sattu filling in the centre and bring the edges together to seal.
4. Roll
Gently roll the stuffed dough into a paratha.
5. Cook
Cook on a hot tawa until both sides are cooked and develop golden spots.
Add ghee or oil according to preference.
